Background & Development
  • Jow Ga is a Southern Chinese style of Kung Fu, which originated in the early 1900's.
  • Jow Lung developed the Jow style through combining the famous kung fu styles - Hung Ga and Choy Ga (Southern Shaolin), with essence of Bak Sil Lum (Northern Shaolin).
  • A practitioner of this form is trained to have powerful bridge-arms, that offer him a strong guard against his enemy, and simultaneously, they allow him to render his opponent powerful destructive attacks as desired. As well, a follower of this form is also trained to have fast moving steps that enable him to advance and retreat freely at will.
  • Speed and power combine with the grace and beauty
    of flowing circular movements.
  • It is this combination of heavy punches and swift
steps that make it a formidable style, which is much adored by Kung Fu enthusiasts.
  • It was for this reason also that General Li Fook Lam in the early years of the Republic of China selected Jow Lung to teach his Jow Style of Kung Fu to the Chinese army.
